Description

The new Kalahari collection is like the popular Karoo collection, unique, handcrafted furniture pieces made from a limited supply of antique ploughs salvaged from the rice fields of Indonesia.

Each Kalahari piece has a unique form and finish, depending on the timber’s individual grain and the aging process. The result is a natural, organic look, feel and texture; as much of a beautiful, functional piece as a historical piece of art.

The Kalahari collection is the perfect way to create a softer, more organic-looking outdoor retreat while reaping the benefits of long-lasting, reclaimed teak.

These pieces are one-of-a-kind, and their warm tones and textured appearance add a touch of elegance to any space.

SPECIFICATIONS:

W 75cm | D 3cm | H 200m

Each piece within the Kalahari Range is handcrafted by skilled artisans, meaning no two are exactly alike.

Using traditional craftsmanship, the reclaimed teak is finished in a sun-grey tone.
Over time, teak will age naturally into an elegant patina grey when left exposed to the elements.

The Kalahari range is individually hand-made from reclaimed wood, with a distinctly
unique shape; elements such as texture, colour and pattern will vary from piece to
piece. The images shown online are representative of the supplied lounger. The shape of the Kalahari Lounger’s frame may vary depending on the shape of the individual
ploughs.

RECLAIMED WOOD:

This piece is made from selectively salvaged reclaimed teak, which has naturally aged over decades of exposure to the elements.

The ageing process is reflected throughout each piece, presenting unique markings and diverse colour tones. These characteristics form part of the authenticity and beauty of reclaimed teak.

The natural tendency for teak is to patina beautifully into a silvery-grey look, which develops over time in natural conditions, including sunlight and ambient moisture.

Overtime, natural splitting, cracking, and loss of natural oils may occur and form part of the characteristics and beauty of this product. These are not viewed as imperfections or faults but as part of timber’s natural life and beauty.

NATURAL MATERIALS:

Every Uniqwa piece has a story…

Our collections are mostly individually hand-made pieces. As most of our products are made from natural materials, texture, colour, and pattern may vary from piece to piece. Reclaimed timbers, naturally weathered materials and off-cuts otherwise discarded are frequently part of Uniqwa design features.

Natural splitting, cracking, and loss of natural oils may occur and form part of the
characteristics and beauty of Uniqwa products. These are not viewed as imperfections or faults but as part of timber s natural life and beauty.

We believe the result of using natural materials and hand-crafted elements is a testament to the unique qualities found in materials originating from nature.

As every monitor displays different colour tones, the colour of pictures on our website and social media cannot be taken as a true colour indication of the actual products, Some product tones may appear to vary from catalogue or website images.

MOULD ON FURNITURE:

Humidity causes mould to grow. Limited airflow and humidity create a microclimate for mould to develop. In some cases, mould will begin growing on furniture, clothing and other contents within the home.

It is not an inherent fault of the furniture, clothing and other contents; rather humidity or dampness in the air can supply enough moisture for mould growth on any surface.

Mould can occur anywhere, and humid climates provide the optimal conditions for the fungi to grow and thrive on any surface.

TEAK LEACHING:

As with any natural material, existing fluids and moisture can leach over
time. A natural process of teak involves oil moving to the surface of the teak.

This natural process of teak oi leaching can cause staining; this can be especially evident if the furniture pieces are experiencing exposure to weather elements, particularly rain.

We do not recommend placing this natural timber piece directly onto carpets or rugs. Moisture will generally seep through the ends of the timber. If placing it onto carpets or rugs, markings may be avoided by using a protective liner such as thick plastic.

None of the above is viewed as a fault; we embrace these changes as the natural characteristics and beauty of timber furniture.
