2022 Kitchen Trends: Top Picks For Styling Your Kitchen

2022 may be about to come to an end, but this year brought us some wonderful kitchen trends that we think deserve to stick around for a few more years. From vibrant new colours in kitchen spaces to statement woven pendant lighting, many 2022 kitchen trends will carry into 2023 and beyond.

Here’s what we loved about kitchens in 2022, and how you can implement these trends in your own kitchen.

Brand New Colours

2022 was the year to play with colour when it came to 2022 kitchen trends. Whilst white remains an ongoing favourite, new colours were splashed across kitchens this year including green (sage green in particular), blue (navy blue was a standout), and a range of jewel tones. Many of these colours were offset with white, whilst impactful black cabinetry was also a popular choice in contemporary settings.

If you’re looking to style your kitchen in a new way in the new year, why not consider a lick of paint to change the mood?

Woven Pendant & Statement Lighting

Usually reserved for dining and living areas, statement lighting in the kitchen made a comeback in 2022. They provide a pop of texture and colour in a space that is generally subdued and utilitarian, and also help to pull in and unify surrounding wood furniture pieces. Some excellent examples of these from FBI include the Abby Natural Pendant Light, made from hand woven banana leaf with a natural finish, and the Lili Round Pendant Light, with its organic shape and materials.

Multi-Purpose Butler’s Pantries

A butler’s pantry is certainly a coveted addition to any kitchen, and they are on the rise in kitchens across the country. While it may not be the easiest to implement on this list of 2022 kitchen trends, it certainly adds the most value and beauty to your kitchen. It’s a great place to prepare food and hide away dirty dishes during a dinner party, and you can utilise the space very well by adding a second sink or even a laundry.

Patterned & Bold Floors

Tiled floors saw a comeback this year as a means to inject character into the home – particularly the heart of the home, the kitchen. For those confident in their styling abilities, a patterned floor in trending shades such as blue makes for a showstopping look, whilst monochromatic tiles may be a better middle ground for those who are trying out kitchen tiling for the first time.

If tiles aren’t for you, then why not consider new hardwood floors in an intriguing shade? From a deep, black oak to a bleached driftwood look, a new bold floor is a great 2022 kitchen trend to follow.

Open Shelving

Open shelving was one of the biggest 2022 kitchen trends as we said farewell to cabinets and embraced organised clutter on open shelves. Whilst not for everybody, open shelving when combined sculptures and home accessories, cookbooks, plants, and organised pantry items make for an Instagram-worthy kitchen.

Brass Hardware

Move over stainless steel: brass hardware was the highlight of cabinetry and kitchen fixtures in 2022. Brushed brass brings a perfect balance of vintage styling on modern silhouettes, and when it comes to the kitchen, swapping out your old hardware for brushed brass can be a fast and affordable trend to incorporate into your kitchen’s style. And if brass isn’t quite your thing, you can also consider brushed copper, gun metal, or even matte black.

Whatever trend you’re chasing, the team at FBI can help you achieve the kitchen or bathroom of your needs. Visit us in-store, or browse our entire range of kitchen and bathroom taps, basins, shower heads, hardware and more online from the comfort of your own home.
